Mr. Nedward...

My baby is sick - which in return has made me sick. For the last few nights Ned has been 'shivering' in bed and I knew he wasn't feel very good. He's been clinging to our sides and giving me sad eyes for a few days. Last night he started 'shivering' in Damon's lap and that's when we realized he isn't cold but he can't stop his head from shaking. He also has blood in his urine. We called the emergency vet line last night and they told us to bring him in first thing this morning... With a urine test (yes, we got to follow him around and 'catch it') and some blood work they have narrowed it down to a thyroid problem and a bladder infection. Apparently both of those can be linked to muscle spasms - which is what they feel Ned is having. Ned will be on an antiobiotic for a 2 week minimum and a thyroid medication for the rest of his life. We are praying that the anitbiotics will take away the blood in his urine - otherwise, it could be bladder/kidney stones - which might mean surgery. Also praying that the thyroid medication will stop the spasms; otherwise, he may also need to be put on seisure medication. For those of you who know Damon and I - we have the absolutel WORST luck with animals. Ned is the longest that we have ever had a dog and he is going to be 5 in June. Our first lab, Hank, didn't make it to his first birthday before we had to put him down and our third dog, Ernie, was only 10 months old when we had to do the same... So, if you can - put Ned in your prayers, he truly means the world to us and we just want him to be healthy and die of old age!

Oh poor Neddy! I hope his medicine makes him feel better! Hang in there!

I'm so thankful that everything turned out better than what you had feared last night.
Hopefully the medicine will do the trick and he'll be back to his own jolly self.
By the way, I love the photos. Only Ned would actually wear something like that and pose for a photo. Zoey would have attacked it immediately.

Auntie loves you Neddy! Get better and we'll see you in two days! :)
